 General Search Tips

If you are having trouble finding the information you're searching for, try these tips first.

• Check your spelling.
• Use part of a word if you're unsure of the spelling.

 Products Search Help

I searched by EPA registration number and didn't find the right product. What went wrong?

• An EPA registration number includes at least two sets of numbers and may have three:
  1. Company number (required; 1-5 digits)
  2. Product number (required; 1-5 digits)
  3. Distributor number (optional; 1-5 digits)
  Examples:
  • company-product-distributor
  • 62719-72
  • 2491-337
  • 3442-798-192
  To search by EPA registration number, enter at least the company number and the product number. Examples:
  • EPA Registration # is 10404-67. Enter all the digits (10404-67).
  • EPA Registration # is 34704-423-65783.
    Enter all the digits (34704-423-65783) or just the first two sets (34704-423)
• Check that you've typed the dashes in the right spots.

I searched by product name and got too many results. How can I narrow the list?

Many products contain similar words and phrases such as 'green' or 'grub control.' To narrow your search:

• Enter unique words or additional words in the product name search box. For example enter: 'Andersons' or 'coated granules' or 'turf water soluble.'
• Choose a 'Pesticide Type' from the list to define the type of pesticide you're searching for, for example, fungicide, herbicide, insecticide.
• Choose a 'Formulation' from the list to define the type of pesticide you're searching for, for example, bait, liquid, powder.

I searched by product name but didn't find the product I'm searching for.

First, check your spelling. Product names can sometimes have an odd spelling, for example Miracle-Gro. If that doesn't solve your problem, try these tips to get more results.

• In the Product Name box, enter fewer or more common words, for example 'Miracle' or 'grub.'
• In the Pesticide Type box, choose Any Type.
• In the Formulation box, choose Any Formulation.
• Leave the EPA Registration # box blank.

 Active Ingredients Search Help

The active ingredient I'm looking for is not in the list.

Multiple chemical names. Some chemicals have multiple chemical names, for example methanearsonic acid and calcium acid methanearsonate. The active ingredient you're searching for may be listed under a different name. If you have product information, such as the name of a product containing the ingredient, do a search by the product name instead. The active ingredients will be listed for you.

Not registered in NYS. It's also possible that the active ingredient you're searching for is not contained in any turf pesticide product currently or formerly registered for use in New York State. The database only includes active ingredients found in products that are or have been registered for use in New York State.

 Cancer Risk Information Search Help

Why are there so many categories? Can't you combine them?

Cancer risk categories reflect four different systems for evaluating cancer risk that have emerged over time due to improvements in scientific methods. These systems are designated by the years: 1986, 1996, 1999, and 2005.

Because these systems used different scientific methods, they cannot be combined into one comprehensive categorization system.
